Born in Varese in 1972. In 1997 he obtained a degree summa cum laude in Nuclear Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. In 2000 he obtained a Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics at Durham University (UK) with the thesis "X-ray and light scattering from nanostructured thin films". He was assistant professor in Physics of Matter at Politecnico di Milano from 2002 to 2010; since 2010 he is associate professor of Physics of Matter at Politecnico di Milano, Department of Energy. He is responsible of teaching and research activities of the Micro and Nanostructured Materials Laboratory. His current research interests concern the synthesis of nanostructured functional surfaces for energy applications; the investigation of supported clusters and nanostructured surfaces by Scanning Tunneling Microscopy and Spectroscopy (STM/STS); the characterization of carbon-based and metal oxide nanostructured systems by Raman scattering. He is author of more than 80 scientific papers on peer reviewed journals.
