She was born in Cosenza in 1983. In 2007 she obtained a degree summa cum laude in Physics at Università della Calabria. Her work "Liquid crystals anchoring on a crystalline substrate: a combined study by Scanning Tunneling and Optical microscopy" was lead in collaboration with the Nanoscience Institut of Paris, where she spent a period of stage between 2006 and 2007. From 2008 she is PhD student in materials at Politecnico di Milano.
